Bird Feeder Kits

If you enjoy spending time outdoors then you simply must consider purchasing a bird feeder kit. They are a neat way to attract birds to your backyard. A bird feeder kit is also a nice way to spend time with your children constructing the feeder. It can get them in touch with nature, and they can reap the benefits of the outcome. In a few days, they will be able to witness all different species of birds coming to enjoy their breakfast from your feeder.

Now of course, if you are a carpenter at heart, you may not need to buy a kit to tell you how to go about constructing a bird feeder, but for those of you that were not blessed with the handy-man abilities, then a kit is an easy way to get started. You can purchase bird feeder kits at any local hardware store. There are also many different types to choose from depending on what level of construction you are looking for. In addition, there are different types of feeders for all sorts of different types of birds. For example, a hummingbird feeder is very different from your average bird feeder in that hummingbirds drink nectar, and do not enjoy seeds as many other species do. If you are looking to give your child something to do this summer there are even kits especially made for kids where all materials are included. This entails a lot less work, but you keep all the fun, and get all the benefits of making one from scratch. If you are looking for one for a child that is relatively easy to put together, go to your local hardware store, or craft store and ask for a bird feeder starter kit. These can be as easy as snapping pieces together depending on what age you are targeting.

The price depends on what type of birder feeder kit you buy. Some can be priced under five dollars and include seeds. Others are more sophisticated and can get anywhere from twenty to fifty dollars. Again, prices will also depend on what type of bird you are trying to attract. Some hummingbird feeders you can make yourself with a pop bottle, red paint, and sugar water. You should try to get to know what types of birds are localized in your area. That way you will not target a bird that will never set foot in your yard, or your country.

After you find and construct your bird feeder, you will want to figure out the best place to put it. I suggest you hang it from the largest tree in your yard, as birds tend to use trees as protection. This is especially true if you own a cat. Hummingbirds do not need a perch to sit on as they hover in the air while they eat. This is in comparison to most birds that like to sit and eat.

After you have completed your bird feeder kit, try another one that is a little more advanced. That way you have now doubled your chances at attracting birds to your yard, as well as, become a little more handy for all of those other household chores.
