Advantages of Window Bird Feeders
One of the world’s favorite pastimes is that of bird watching, and when window bird feeders are
installed, you don’t even need to leave the comfort of your home to indulge in it.
Birds are not only fascinating creatures, but beautiful in their diversity as well. With over 10,000 known species
of birds across the world, there are endless possibilities to viewing these winged wonders. The types of birds that
can be seen will depend largely upon the part of the world you live in, and also the season of the year. Many birds
are unable to withstand cold climates, and will travel thousands of miles as winter weather approaches to reach
warm climates that offer the food they require. Those individuals who live in warmer climates are rewarded by not
only their own native birds throughout the year, but also the arrival of these migrating birds. Viewing the antics
of birds is a favorite activity of many, and being able to do so in a manner that is noninvasive to their habitat
is a bonus.
Placing bird feeders outside is a perfect way to attract feathered friends to an area where you are able to view
them unobtrusively. It is enjoyable to sit outside for this activity when the weather if ideal; however, it can be
uncomfortable to do so when the weather is too cool or hot. This is when window bird feeders show their true value.
There are many varieties from which to choose, as different types of feeders are designed for different types of
birds. Most of the feeders are easily attachable to the window through the use of strong suction cups; enabling the
homeowner to sit on the inside as the birds delight in the treats that have been provided for them.
It is important when using window bird feeders to be conscious of the bird’s safety. Birds that access the window
feeder may not realize the glass is even present and can badly injure themselves by hitting the surface. To avoid
this potentially lethal problem, place cling stickers or a reflective window cling that allows the birds to see the
surface of the window. While some think this will prevent birds from accessing the feeder, this is not the
case.
Regardless of the weather conditions, bird watching can still be an enjoyable and soothing activity when
window bird feeders are used; providing food for our feathered friends
while appreciating their beauty and diversity.
